The BBC has been criticised after spending thousands of pounds teaching its staff to use social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter.
The one day 'Making the Web Work for You' courses cost 100 pounds a time and aim to develop the social networking skills of staff as well as teach them how to research effectively on the net.
But according to The Sun newspaper the scheme has been slammed as a massive waste of money by some BBC staff and condemned as 'pathetic' by a Tory MP.
The BBC has defended the courses claiming that they teach more than just than social networking and saying that less than 1000 staff had taken part.
