About HYC

HYC stands for Havant Youth Choir. HYC was founded in 2000 by Lou Bundy and she has directed the choir from the start. It was originally meant to be just for fun – but we were so good that we started entering a few competitions, and we won!

We are fortunate to have the services of Vicky Coney who accompanies us on the keyboard.

Thanks to the support from the team of parent helpers, the choir has travelled to many different venues to perform.

We meet every Wednesday in term time from 18.00-19.00 at Horndean Junior School. We wear black trousers and purple polo shirts when we perform.

We are proud of our performances and the way we conduct ourselves when we sing. The reward for singing with the choir is the places we visit and the number of venues we are invited to sing at. Last year, we were invited to sing in Disneyland, Paris and we lead the singing at the Hampshire County Council carol service in the Great Hall, Winchester.

There are three sections to our choir so no-one is left with an uncomfortable part for their voice range. If you are a lower singer or if your voice has broken then you will most likely be in the Baritones section (lowest). If however you are a high singer you will most probably be in the Sopranos section (highest) and if your voice range doesn't naturally fall into either you could sing in the Alto section (middle). So no matter what, you won’t be left out.
