Conference Planning

At least  seven other schools have agreed to  attend  our Deep Leadership conference on September 19th. We are now planning  this event and are particularly interested in finding a high powered guest speaker. The general plan for the conference is to have a variety of people with leadership roles at Oakwood Park give a short presentation on the work they are doing. The line up of speakers for the conference should include the Head, a variety of SLG  members and several students, with each outlining one key element of their work that  we feel touches on deep leadership principles.

The ball is rolling!

There are still things to do to update and maintain the website but the  interest in deep leadership is beginning to pick up momentum.  A variety of schools have joined the hub and are interested in participating, such as,  the other southeast hub schools for deep support, learning and experience (St. George's School, Hillview School and Hugh Christie). The most recent addition to the hub is Bexley Grammar School. On Friday I met two representatives from Bexley to discuss participating in their Leading Edge Conference November 6th.  At the same time I asked them to join our leadership hub and the come to our launch event on September 19th.  Even though the ball is rolling with this project the momentum needs to pick up greater pace, in reality more exchange of ideas and debate .

Now appears on google

The  website now appears quite high on a Google search.  Several people have filled in the survey but most disagree that leadership can be deep. But what type of people are accessing the site. Hopefully the launch of the hub will get more people to interact and contribute in the forum. I am going to add a guest book to help collect a list of people to keep up to date on how the hub is developing.  I also need to expand the hub to include the Southeast hub schools Hillview,  Hugh Christie and St. George's.

No feedback!

People are  accessing the site but no one is yet to interact on the forum  page or to enter a simple vote.  I have added some more leadership links that I must explore in greater detail myself.  In order to speed up access to the site I have asked for a link to be added to the school website. Perhaps this will help pull more people in who may provide feedback.

Some hits, some feedback

Several  people in school have accessed  the site  and have made favourable comments.  I have since learned that it takes six weeks for the meta tags to operate  to identify the site in searches. WHY? Still I need people to start contributing to the site.  I watch and wait!

Meta tags

I have been playing around with trying to locate the website using Google by tinkering with the key words that will identify it in a search. So far none of my searches have found it and nobody is going to look through a dozen or more pages for a site that meets their search criteria. I need to find a way of getting people onto the site. The meta tags seem the answer but as of yet they are not working well enough.

Anyway the site is out there and I have informed the SSAT. Positive feedback from inside school but I want others to see it but how?

Spreading the word

Intend to write a formal letter to invite schools to join the SE Regional Hub but first I feel compelled to create a focal point for the project. In my action plan I said a website would be created to help provide this focal point. It seemed alot of work to push onto the ICT Dept. A colleague suggested I take control of the website and suggested I look at a webbased solution. Mr. Takeaway Wesite was his solution. IT DOES EXACTLY WHAT IT SAYS ON THE TIN! I have never make my own website. Dabled in Dreamweaver but that was too time comsuming. So here I am making a website with my gained time in school. Great Fun!
