Firyal is an Iraqi/British artist. She was born in Baghdad and she graduated from University of Baghdad.

Firyal’s latest collection “Postcards from Mesopotamia” is inspired by her reaction to the tragic looting of the museum of Baghdad in 2003. Moved by an article by Robert Fisk, entitled “Civilization Torn to Pieces”, Firyal’s immediate impulse was to try to put back these missing pieces through the medium of art. The result is a colourful interpretation of the ancient history of her country in this tumultuous time.

Firyal took up art some twenty years ago, always drawing her inspiration from cultural artefacts and history.

Her work can be seen either in the form of original paintings or limited edition prints sold throughout the Middle East and the UK.

She has participated in many joint exhibitions, both in London and in the Arabian Gulf.

She has also been commissioned on numerous occasions by interior designers, hotels, and private individuals.
