Visit to the trenches by the Prince of Wales by Edward Francis - written 16/07/2008 17:47:43

Your article about the visit to the trenches by the Prince of Wales. I can corroborate with a story of my fathers, who was in the 4th battallion of the Seaforth Highlanders at that time. The Prince jumped into my fathers trench and chatted to him for some time.

Later after the war my father was invited to meet the prince once again when he visited Richmond in Surrey to officially open the new Richmond Bridge.

My father has the Mons Star was mentioned in Despatches and in 1916 was commissioned in the field and as he was an engineer transferred to the RFC.
