There was a volunteers (later known as TA) Drill Hall in Union Street in Keith but no other barracks in the town. You need to find out the name of the nearest proper Garrison town that contained Regular troops. Once you do that it will be possible to trace the units there at that time.
There were very few Scottish Regular garrisons at that time, with most being in Ireland and England if not in the colonies.

I'm trying to find out about an Alexander Gauld,a soldier, he fathered two children at Keith, Banffshire in 1844 and 1845 so can only assume he was based there or nearby. Could anyone tell me what regiments were based in Keith at this time, I understand there was a barracks there? Or failing that, how I might find out? He died sometime between these dates and 1868, possibly in conflict??
