16th Battalion the Middlesex Regiment & Lothian’s and Border Horse by Elizabeth Foden - written 08/09/2009 18:33:55

Hi

I am sorry to trouble you but I have emailed you before and found you to have been the only person to be able to answer my query so I hope you don’t mind me asking more questions.

Please would you be able to tell me what tartan the pipe band of the 16th Battalion the Middlesex Regiment wore? I believe the 16th was a purely wartime (WW1) battalion of an English regiment – we only have a black and white photo of the pipe band.

I am also looking for detail of the uniform, particularly the tartan, of the Lothian’s and Border Horse, the Scottish Yeomanry regiment which founded a pipe band after the WW2. I believe the regiment was amalgamated later to form the Lowland Yeomanry and retained the pipe band – did the uniform change at this point?

I have spent hours looking on the internet and wonder, apart from you, if you knew of a good research site please.

Kind regards

Elizabeth Foden
