Hi Paul
I am new to Showing Dahlias, could you clear this point up for me
If say for instance a badly grown large dec is entered in the Med Dec class but comes within the size requirements is it judged or disqualified
Jim
Hello Jim
If the dahlia is classified in the NDS Directory then it should be entered into its appropriate class. If the bloom is undersize then the answer is NO it cannot be entered into what ever class befits its size on the day. It MUST be entered into the correct class and then judged against the ideals for that classification (undersize will mean down pointing). However, I have seen this done at “village show’s” of entering into the class it best fits into and where judging rings are not used and it’s not a practice I condone as to me it goes against all the ethics of being a dahlia exhibitor and leading by example (in short I consider it CHEATING). However, if the bloom is not classified then it can be entered in any class and again judged against those ideals. Trust this helps, and for any further advise please contact me via my website.
Regards, Paul
Thanks Paul
I think I understand,Just to Clarify a classified named Med Dec entered in a large or small dec Class would be NAS
