I am wondering if there is a Kane DNA project. Experience of similar DNS projects of other Clans on for example have uncovered many intresting links and generated lots of conversations. In my case it would be very useful to be able to be establish factually the linkage with those families who were supposedly accross Munster after Kinsale and the Ulster Clan also the links between the Keanes of scattery island and the same.

Sorry there seems to be a glitch with my computer sending multi replies. There is a Kane DNA project running on FamilytreeDNA. You do not have to be a member or log in to see the results.  Just go to the main page and click Projects, then DNA surname projects. You will see an alphabet list and select C and scroll down through the names until you see Cain. Click on Cain and it will take you to this link. Click on Y-DNA results. This will take you to a spreadsheet where all the Kane DNA information is. This site is adminstered by Rory Cain who is providing excellent information on all varients of the Kane name. If you get a DNA test you will immediately find which Kane clan you belong to. Rory is a descendant of the Cain of Galway. I am a descendant of the Cains of Breffine. Rory will provide you with any information you require before starting any DNA test. The information can be private or public, whichever you prefer.  I hope this information helps you. If you require any further information you can contact me at
