Data Matching of Council Tax Records by Richard - written 17/09/2007 15:55:31

Just wondered what you thoughts are regarding a Data Matching exercise that has been proposed by my local authority.

This is to supply a Private Credit Reference agency with all Council Tax data so they can match and flag those properties where the person is claiming single person discount with those that they have details of mutiple occupants.

While I can see the reason under prevention of crime/fraud I am concerned about the Data Protection Act and Article 8 of the Human Rights Act. What are your thoughts?

Thanks
