RE: What we believe.... by Black pantheist - written 19/06/2010 17:05:24
The 'inspired' immutable word of an infallable, omnipotent god as Interprated and described by man with editation, adaption and incorporation of pagan texts where applicable/ expedient? See HISTORICAL EVIDENCE AS TO THE ORIGINS OF THE BIBLE! "I am a man of but one book", Then YOU ARE INDEED IGNORANT!

Hello Caleb,

I'm very interested in the debate on the forum, although the term 'debate' does seem weak as most posters (pro or anti) tend to ignore each other. From both sides, I can't say I'm impressed.

So I'd like to ask a question. The "What we believe" page of your website states...
1) That the Bible is the inspired, infallible and inerrant word of God.
It is final in its authority. None may add thereto or take away
therefrom except at their own peril.
When I read the bible I read,  and there is no other way of putting it, barbaric instructions.

As a human, I do not want to live my life this way. With the threat of punishment of death for actions which to c21st thinking are minor problems.  So as a human with the capability of reaching judgment myself, I reject the "what we believe" statement. Could you, in the context of this question, explain why you accept the bible as the inspired, infallible and inerrant world of God; even when it instructs us to commit, what most would call, acts of barbarity?

Many thanks

Ged
