Maria Lily Norfolk by Linda Davies - written 12/10/2007 19:54:00

I have just found this wonderful website! My husband's great grandmother was Maria Lily Norfolk who married in 1882.

She gave her father's name as Richard Norfolk, timber merchant. She should have been born c.1859.

We have found a Richard Norfolk, timber merchant who we believe married 1848 to Maria Lindsey and 1858 to Grace Nuttall.

We believe he was baptised 20.10.1823 to parents Richard and Revecca - we think Richard Norfolk seniorĀ  married Rebecca Kew in 1823 and, we believe, Elizabeth Raims in 1821.

This ties in with your Generation 16, son of no 2 Christopher, Richard 1799-1853.

There is no evidence for the baptism of Maria Lily Norfolk and I suspect she may have been illegitimate, baptised with a different surnameĀ and taken the father's surname later.

Assuming we have the correct line, thank-you for providing the 16 generations back! If anyone can shed any light on our particular branch, we would be very grateful for help!
