Adding a single product to your store
If you want to create a product page for a ‘Single product variant’, click the ‘Add new’ button. On the ‘My products’ page you will see the following tabs appear on the left hand side of the screen:
• Product info
• SEO
• Categories
• Manufacturers
• Related products
• Pictures
• Product filters
• Bulk purchase prices
• Prices by customer roles
• Product variant attributes
• Discount
This article will take you through adding the basic information about your product in the ‘Product info’ section and will take you through creating a page, which will look like this when it is complete:
General details
Product name: For example, ‘Imperial topaz solitaire ring’ (indicated by ‘A’).
Short description: For example, ‘This Imperial topaz solitaire ring is hand-made and perfect for every occasion’. Short descriptions are used when any of your products are used in widgets (indicated by ‘B’)
Product description: For example, ‘Imperial topaz solitaire ring in 9 carat gold. The oval-cut topaz is bezel-set at the head of this 9 carat gold ring. This eye-catching gold and topaz combination will add a touch of glamour to any outfit.’
Featured product: Tick here if you would like this product to be added to your ‘Featured product’ widget. Using the ‘Pages’ section in ‘My content’, you can add this widget to any of your store pages
Published: Tick this box if you’d like to publish this product page to your store immediately
Allow customer reviews: Tick this box if you want to allow customers to add reviews for this product
Allow customer ratings: Tick this box if you want to allow customers to rate this product out of five stars
Product tags: Type in some words here that describe your product (for example, ‘gold’ or ‘necklace’). Product tags are another way to help people filter through your products quickly and easily and will appear on your product page – they are indicated by (C) on the product page image. If your customer clicks on this tag, they will be taken through to a page that displays all the other products you
have given this tag to. You can also add a ‘Popular tags’ widget to any of your pages
When you are happy with your settings, click ‘Save details’.
