With Storefront, you can import or export lists of the products you sell using PDF, XML or Excel. To do this, go to ‘Edit my store’ and from the ‘Products’ drop-down menu, select ‘My products’.
Click on 'More options' and you will see this button:
Export your product list to XML
The ‘Export to XML’ button can be used if you want to convert your products into an XML file. This is a type of code that you can send to others (such as affiliate sellers), who may want to display your category list on their shop.
What is XML?
XML is a computer language that was created to allow people to easily transport their data from one format to another. In this case, we need to use it to turn information about a Storefront customers orders or products held in the Storefront system into an Excel document.
XML codes are a bit like HTML codes, except HTML is all about how data looks and XML is about the data is itself and how it is stored.
Creating your XML document
Log into Storefront and click ‘Edit my store’. Click ‘More options’ and select ‘Export to XML’. Save the document.
How do you convert an XML sheet into Excel?
Open Excel 2010 and click ‘File’. Select ‘Open’ from the drop-down menu.
You will now be asked to choose the document you wish to open. Select the XML document you created before and click ‘Open’.Now you will be asked how you want to open the document. Select ‘Use the XML Source task pane’.
You’ll see a message saying that the source doesn’t refer to ‘schema’ – schema describe the structure of an XML document. Click OK.
Your XML document will now open in Excel
