We recommend that you NEVER cut and paste text from Microsoft Word into your website. Unfortunately, Word tends to insert hidden computer code (HTML code) into text which, when pasted into your web page, can mess up the layout and cause internet browsers, such as Internet Explorer, to crash and produce an error.

To clean up this HTML code from your text go to 'Change Content' from the Main Options and then select the page you wish to edit. Now, change the level in the 'Change Level' drop down list in the top right hand corner of the page to 'Creative Mode'.

Under the main text box, look for an icon in the second row that looks like a paint brush - this is the 'Clean Up HTML' button. Click and select the options 'Remove all word specific mark up', 'Clean up <Font> tags' and 'Clean up <Span> tags'. Your text should now be clean. You may lose some of the original formatting of your text when you do this but you will be able to reformat it afterwards and then save your changes.

If your page continues to crash when you try to clean up this HTML code, your web browser may be unable to process the amount of text and code that your copied word document has created. To clean up this code you will need to use the web browser Firefox. You can download Firefox for free at www.getfirefox.com Simply download, install and run Firefox as your default browser.

When adding text to your website, we recommend that you NEVER cut and paste from Word straight into your website. If you have to, cut from Word and then paste into Notepad (which is installed free on every PC) or Text Edit (which is installed free on every Mac) first. Notepad or TextEdit will remove all Word's hidden code. You can then cut and paste your text from Notepad or Text Edit into your website with no problems at all.
