Black and white text and links are not showing on my website

If you are using a template with a gradient, which means it starts light and ends up dark, a hyperlink in white at the top of the page will be invisible (or at least faint), while a black hyperlink at the bottom is invisible too.

Sometimes the best way to work around this is not to use pitch black or pure white text colours, but an off white or off black instead. Not only will you see the text, but also it'll probably look a lot more professional on your website.
