Frequently asked questions

Thinking about joining Mr Site?

What is Takeaway Website?

What is included in my Takeaway Website package?

The award-winning Takeaway Website package is a one-stop solution to website creation – everything you need to create a professional website and get it online, all in one place. All you have to do is select a website design from the hundreds available hundreds; drop in text, pictures, music and videos, then click publish to see the site go live immediately. All our packages include a secure online shop, photo galleries, contact forms, blogs, a jukebox and much, much more.

The cost of your Takeaway Website package also includes a website name (otherwise known as a domain name – e.g. www.yourdomainname.com), website hosting and unlimited use of the Takeaway Website building tools for one year.

We have three different Takeaway Website packages – Beginner, Standard and Pro – all of which have different features to suit anyone and everyone. Click here to find out more.

Please note: You will need to renew your Takeaway Website account annually.

How difficult is it to build a website with Takeaway Website?

Our system is very easy to use – anyone can create a website with Takeaway Website...even technophobes!

A basic knowledge of the computer programme Microsoft Word will help and the Mr Site support team is always on hand in case you ever get stuck. Beginners are able to start creating their website in 'Simple Mode' and as your confidence grows you can then move to the more advanced 'Creative Mode'.

If you are already a seasoned internet user or web designer, you can go straight to 'Creative Mode' with more advanced options for creating your website. The Takeaway Website package has lots of features that you can add to your website at the click of the button – website counters, Google maps, contact forms and social booking tools just to name a few…all in a matter of seconds.

How many websites can I create with a Takeaway Website package?

You can build one website per Takeaway Website package – but why not try purchasing some extra website names (domain names) and have up to six ‘pointing’ to the same website?

For example, if your main website is a .com, you could also purchase the same .co.uk or .com.au domain names and point them to the main website. This means when a customer visits any of the extra names, they will automatically be taken straight to the main .com website. An extra domain name costs just £10 per year.

What is the difference between a Takeaway Website box and an email version of Takeaway Website?

When you purchase a Takeaway Website package (in a box or via email), Mr Site provides you with an activation code. This allows you to activate your package at www.mrsite.co.uk/activate and start using the Takeaway Website tools.

If you buy a Takeaway Website box, your activation code can be found in here – along with both a printed copy and CD version of our ‘Easy Instruction Guide’.

If you buy Takeaway Website via email, you will receive your activation code in an email within 24 hours – along with access to an electronic version of our ‘Easy Instruction Guide’, which you are able to print off should you want a hard copy.

Can I trial the Takeaway Website package?

At the moment we not offer a free trial or demo, but please we would encourage you to visit the Mr Site Learning Academy for any further questions you may have about our packages.

Do I need to install any programmes on my computer to use Takeaway Website?

No – Takeaway Website is completely browser-based, which means you do everything via the internet and do not need to install anything on your computer. It also means you can update and edit your website wherever you are, whenever you want and from any computer, as long as you have access to the internet.

Domain names and website hosting

What is a domain name (website name)?

A domain name is your website name – a unique name that identifies an internet site (e.g. www.yourname.com). You can buy (or register) your domain name with Mr Site or another provider, but if you buy it with Mr Site it will be included as part of your Takeaway Website package price (Beginner: £19.99, Standard: £34.99 or Pro: £99.99).

If you buy your domain name with another provider, you will have to pay them a domain name registration fee on top of your package price. It’s possible to move your domain name to Mr Site for us to look after and it will then be included in your annual renewal fee.

How can I check if the domain name I want to register (buy) is still available and not already owned by someone else?

Go to www.whois-search.com and type your chosen website name (otherwise known as a domain name) into the box.

Please note: you do not need to type the ‘www.’ part in.

What domain types (for example, .com, co.uk, .net, etc.) does Mr Site support?

Mr Site supports the following types of domain name:

.com, .co.uk, .com.au, .net.au, .co.za, .net, .org, .info, .biz, .org.uk, .co.in, and .me.uk

Can I use a domain name I already own with Takeaway Website?

Of course! You can use a domain name that you already own with your Takeaway Website package as long as we support it.

Mr Site supports .com, .co.uk, .com.au, .net.au, .co.za, .net, .org, .info, .biz, .org.uk, .co.in, .me.uk names.

At the time of activation, you will be given an option to tick a box if you already own your domain name; along with simple instructions on how to use the name with your Takeaway Website.

What is a host or hosting?

A host is a company or service that runs internet servers – these allow you to get your website onto the internet. Effectively, a host looks after your website, and can (although, not necessarily) look after your website name (domain name) as well. If you register your domain name with Mr Site, we automatically become a guardian for this and will also be your website host.

Does Takeaway Website include the cost of my domain name registration and website hosting?

If you purchased your domain name when you activated your Takeaway Website account (or if you already owned your name and moved it to Mr Site), the price of each Takeaway Website package, and its annual renewal fee, includes both the cost of your domain name and website hosting.

If your domain name is with another provider and ‘pointed’ to Mr Site, we recommend you move it to us as it will be more cost-effective for you. Otherwise you will be paying for a domain name twice – once to your current registrar and, again, for the domain name included in your Takeaway Website package.

Regardless of where you domain name is registered, your website must be hosted by Mr Site or you will not be able to use all of the Takeaway Website features.

I registered my domain name with another provider – but does it need to be registered or transferred to Mr Site to use my Takeaway Website package?

It is possible for you to register your domain name with another registrar, if you so wish. You can then ask them to 'point' your domain name to Mr Site and still use the Takeaway Website tools to create your website and get it online.

However, as a domain name is included in your Takeaway Website package, we recommend you move to Mr Site otherwise you will be paying twice – once to your current registrar and again for the domain name included in your Mr Site package. If you move the name to Mr Site you will only pay once a year for your Takeaway Website package renewal, which includes the cost of your domain name.

Does my website need to be hosted with Mr Site?

Yes – websites created with a Takeaway Website package have special features that will only work if it is hosted with Mr Site; such as the contact form, online shop and guest book.

Please note: You may have your domain name registered with another registrar and 'pointing' to Mr Site, but your website itself must be hosted by Mr Site to ensure full functionality.

Can I purchase/register a second or third domain name to ‘point’ to my main website?

You can register a new domain name to replace your current one or to work in tandem with it – for example you could buy a .co.uk name and ‘point’ it to the same website as your .com name.

If you want to register a new domain name, all you’ll need to do is log in to your Takeaway Website account and click on the 'Buy' button located in the top right hand corner of the Main Options. Your new domain name will cost you £10 for a year and should be set up within 24 hours.

When will I need to specify the domain name that I want to use with my Takeaway Website package?

When you buy a Takeaway Website package you will be given an activation code, which allows you to activate your package at www.mrsite.co.uk/activate

During this activation process, you will be asked to specify the domain name that you want to use with your Takeaway Website.

How do I transfer my domain name to Mr Site?

If you already have a domain name registered with a company other than Mr Site and would like to connect it to your Takeaway Website, we advise you to move your domain name to us so the cost can be included in your Takeaway Website package. This means you won’t have to pay your current registrar on top of Mr Site and your website and domain will be in one place for you to manage easily. To do this, you just need to follow a few simple steps.

If your name is a .com, .net, .org, .biz .info, or .co.in:

Ask your registrar to unlock your domain name and give you an authorisation code, also known as an EPP key. Then just email support@mrsite.co.uk and tell us your domain name and this authorisation code.

If your name is a .co.uk, .org.uk, or me.uk:

Ask your current registrar to change the IPS tag to: MRSITE. Once this has been done please email support@mrsite.co.uk, tell us your domain name and inform us that you have changed the IPS tag and

If your name is a .com.au or a .net.au:

Ask your current registrar for a domain name transfer password and email support@mrsite.co.uk to tell us your domain name and the transfer password.

If your name is a .co.za:

Contact your current registrar and tell them you wish to transfer your domain name to Mr Site. Next, email support@mrsite.co.uk and tell us your domain name, stating that you want to move your domain name to us. We will then contact your registrar and you will receive an email from them asking you to confirm the transfer.

For all of the above, once we have the relevant information we can process the name transfer for you. And don’t worry… your registrar will know what you are talking about.

Upgrading and renewing

If I buy Takeaway Website Beginner or Standard, can I upgrade to Standard or Pro and how much will it cost?

You can upgrade your Takeaway Website package at any time – from the Beginner to Standard package or Standard to Pro.

All you need to do is click the ‘Upgrade’ button in the Takeaway Website Main Options. You will need to pay the difference between your current package and the package you are upgrading to. When you renew the following year, you will pay the normal renewal fee for the package you have upgraded to (Standard or Pro).

After my first year, how much will it cost to renew my Takeaway Website package for a further year?

On completion of the first year, you need to renew your Takeaway Website account. The cost of this is:

£25.28 for Takeaway Website Beginner

£40.88 for Takeaway Website Standard

£99.99 for Takeaway Website Pro

If any extras purchase have been made, such as an additional domain name or web space, this will be added to the cost of renewal if they were bought at the same time you activated your Takeaway Website account. If the date of your extra purchase is different, then you can renew on the relevant date.

Just like your original purchase cost, renewals are also paid annually. Current renewal fees are as follows:

£25.28 for Takeaway Website Beginner

£40.88 for Takeaway Website Standard

£99.99 for Takeaway Website Pro

What happens if I do not want to renew my Takeaway Website account after the first year?

When your Takeaway Website account is not renewed, your website and email will be taken offline. We do not delete your website instantly and you have two months after expiration to renew should you want your website back. After this time, your account will be removed from our system.

If your domain name is a .com / .info / .biz / .org / .net name it will go into what is known as 'redemption' 30 days after your Takeaway Website account expires. Once your domain name is in the redemption period it will cost £160 to get the domain name back – this an industry fee, not a Mr Site fee.

If you do not transfer or renew your account after 60 days your domain name will be deleted from the internet, allowing other people to register it.

Should you wish to keep just your domain name but not your website, this is possible, and we can also help you move your domain name to a different host. This will cost £15.

Using Takeaway Website

Do I have to use Mr Site’s website designs or can I use my own?
